ABOUT US

WHO WE ARE

Carlmont Green team is a club at Carlmont High School made up of students from all grade levels. We are an enthusiastic and passionate group of young activists who want to create lasting change in our communities by promoting sustainability and educating others about climate change. As a tribute to our love for activism, many of our members are also involved in various external organizations throughout the Bay Area, including the Sunrise Movement, Bay Area Youth Lobbyists Initiative, Citizens Climate Lobby, Beyond Terra, and the San Mateo Youth Climate Ambassadors.

WHAT WE DO

Our mission is to raise awareness about the health of our planet by promoting green initiatives both in Carlmont High School and our surrounding community. Currently, we manage Carlmont's compost bins, and we're beginning multiple new gardens on campus. We also volunteer with outside organizations such as Grassroots Ecology, City Trees, and San Mateo County's Phoenix Garden.

MEET THE TEAM

Natalie is a senior and the Co-President for Green Team. She joined Green Team in her freshman year as a way to meet with new people who were just as passionate about learning about various environmental topics and how to help care for our planet. She helped to start a hydroponics intitiave at Carlmont, has hosted several Earth Day events, and has contributed to the native gardens on campus. She is also an alumi of the SMCOE Youth Climate Ambassadors and a current member of the SUHSD sustainability committee.

Laura is the other Co-President for Green Team and is a senior. This is her fourth year as a member of Green Team! She looks forward to working on the sustainable garden project with Each Green Corner, hosting engaging meetings, and going on fun excursions with other members this year!

Sierra is the Vice President of Green Team. She joined last year and has enjoyed being around students who are equally passionate about the environment as her. This year, she is excited not only to make a difference around the school but also in the community!

Alana is the Head of Outreach for Green Team. This is her third year as a Green Team member. She's super excited for all of the fun activities we have planned this year!
